Very rare 19th century marine barometer
This is a fantasticly rare item we found in a recent clearance, its an early 19th century marine barometer. The barometer seems to be working ok and is full of mercury as is the thermometer in the middle, the only fault i can find with it is that there would have been 2 ivorene knobs to adjust the guage wich are missing, these can easily be bought on ebay for about £7 each. The stick comes with original brass gimble or can be hung from the loop on the top as in the pics and it stands aprox 3ft in length. Its signed for "H HEMSLEY 140st GEORGE ST EAST IMPROVED MARINE".The stick is in pretty good original condition but is quite dirty so could do with a bit of wax and wire wool to bring the colour back into it.The stick comes with variouse framed pieces of documentation to do with its owner the captain of brig"BLACK BOY"and a copy of a page of the Whitby Gazette dated 1858 telling how it was rescued from the Black Boy along with the captains child when it was wrecked. This is a very rare find in that marine barometers are very rare apearing in top west end sales every so often but never with the kind of interesting provenance this one has.

Rare 18th century secretaire bookcase
This is a fantastic quality piece of fine 18th century mahogany furniture. Its a very rare open top secretaire bookcase that we cleared from a local house recently along with some other good furniture we will be listing later in the week. Its completly untouched, exactly as we got it with all its faults and foibles wich are that theres a bit of damage to the top left hand cornice(see pic). There is also a very small piece of moulding missing from the middle frieze,1 drawer lock is missing and the fretwork to the top of the bookcase has been repaired probably a hundred years ago.The top seems to have retained its original paint and decoration including the painted flower spray at either side on the top.It comprises 4 large drawers and a secretaire drawer wich itself includes multiple drawers and secret drawers(see pics)The bookcase stands aprox 90 inches high/47 inches wide and 22 inches deep and comes in 2 sections making it quite a useful size. This realy is a fantastic looking piece of 18th century furniture that in the right house would realy look amazing!

Vintage Breitling Navitimer chronograph
This is a Gents Breitling chronograph that ive owned for a while now but is being sold as ive bought something else. The watch is in good working order and keeps good time and all functions work. The watch is in pretty good condition for its age with below average wear+tear. The faults with the watch are--The outer cream coloured dial has a bit of wear to the numerals(see pics)but it isnt yellow as it looks in the pics, thats shadow. The third fault is that the chronograph sweep hand doesnt centre at the 12 when ended,it flicks back to the 2 oclock. This is a very easy repair, the hand just needs resetting and it was always something i intended to sort out but never did.Ive probably over exagerated the faults but i always do when i describe an item. This is a nice old watch that does what its suposed to and looks good when worn. The box that comes with it was the one i bought it with, its from a later chronomatic navitimer but to somone who hasnt got one its still probably worth £50.00
Since the pics were taken the watch has been fitted with a new strap and a new glass. |
